1. Who we are
Snowlet is created by Sichen Liu, who holds its copyright, and published on the App Store by Alex Chen, who appears as the seller there. Both are based in Taiwan. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Sichen Liu and Alex Chen.
For any question about this policy or your information, email hello@wickcache.com.
2. Information that stays on your device
Snowlet creates and stores the following information only on your device. It sits in the app's private storage, which is shared with the Snowlet widgets on the same device:
| Information | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Your logs: mood, energy, optional note, date and time of each entry | To grow your weekly snowflake and show your journal |
| Snowflake images and growth data | To display, replay and export your snowflakes |
| Words and poems the snowman keeps, gifts, practice progress | To power the snow world |
| Settings: language, first day of the week, reminder time, onboarding status | To remember your preferences |
| Subscription invitation history (when an invitation was last shown) | To limit how often the subscription page appears |
We have no access to this information. It is not uploaded to us or to any third party.
On-device text processing
To let the owl and the snowman respond to what you write, Snowlet analyses your notes on your device, using Apple's built-in language frameworks. Nothing is sent to a server.
We never use your moods or notes to set prices, decide which offers you see, show ads or build a profile of you.
3. When information leaves your device
Information leaves your device only in the situations below. In each case it is either started by you or handled by Apple.
Purchases (Apple)
Optional purchases in Snowlet are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment details and Apple ID; we never receive them. To unlock features, your device checks the transaction status (for example the product, purchase date and expiry date) through Apple's StoreKit. Apple's own handling is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.
Backups and exports you create
You can export a backup of your journal or images of your snowflakes, and choose where to save or share them (for example Files, iCloud Drive or AirDrop).
- A journal backup contains your notes. Keep it somewhere safe.
- Once you export a file, it is no longer controlled by Snowlet.
Device backups
If iCloud Backup or computer backups are turned on for your device, iOS may include Snowlet's data in those backups. These backups are managed by Apple and by your device settings, not by us.
Emails you send us
If you contact us (for example through Settings → Feedback), we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to improve Snowlet. We delete support emails once they are no longer needed, and at the latest 24 months after the conversation ends.
System font download
When Snowlet is used in Chinese, iOS may download a rounded system font from Apple. This is a standard iOS download from Apple. It does not include any of your journal data.
4. Permissions
- Notifications (optional). If you turn on the daily reminder, Snowlet asks for permission to send local notifications. The reminder is scheduled on your device; no server is involved. You can turn it off in Snowlet or in iOS Settings.
- Snowlet does not request access to your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or health data. It does not ask for permission to track you.
5. What we do not collect or do
The app does not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or usage and crash data. In addition:
- We do not sell, rent or share your personal information.
- We do not show advertising.
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs.
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not make automated decisions about you.
6. How long information is kept, and how to delete it
- On your device: your journal stays until you delete it. Go to Settings → Your journal → Delete all entries, or delete the app. Deleting the app removes its on-device data, but files you exported earlier are not affected.
- Exported files and device backups: you manage these yourself.
- Emails: see section 3.
We cannot recover a journal that has been deleted on your device, because we never have a copy.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal information, or to object to its use. These laws include Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act, the EU/UK GDPR, the California CCPA, China's Personal Information Protection Law and Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information.
Because your journal is stored only on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app: view and edit your entries, export a backup, or delete everything. For information we hold, such as emails you sent us, write to hello@wickcache.com. We will respond within the time the law requires, and in any case within 30 days.
Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we handle emails you send us on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you (Article 6(1)(f)). You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
8. International transfers
We are based in Taiwan. If you email us from another country, your message is handled in Taiwan and stored by our email service provider, which may keep it in other countries. We handle it only for the purposes described above.
9. Children
Snowlet is not directed at children under 13, or under 14 in mainland China. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because Snowlet does not collect personal information, there is nothing for us to delete. If you believe a child has emailed us, contact us and we will delete the message.
10. Security
Your journal is protected by the security of your device, including its passcode and encryption. Please keep your device and any exported backups secure.
11. Snowlet is not a medical service
Snowlet is a journaling and reflection app. It does not diagnose, treat or monitor any condition, and it is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line right away.
12. Third-party services
Snowlet contains no third-party SDKs. The only outside services involved are:
| Service | When | Its privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Apple — App Store, StoreKit, iCloud and device backups, system font downloads | Purchases, backups you enable, Chinese font download | Apple Privacy Policy |
| Our email provider | Only if you email us | Applies to the messages it stores for us |
13. Changes to this policy
If we add features that change how information is handled, we will update this policy before those features are released. Examples are accounts, cloud sync, weather based on your location, or crash reporting. Where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent. The "Last updated" date at the top always shows the current version.
