These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply when you use Snowlet, an iOS app and its widgets. Snowlet is created by Sichen Liu, who holds its copyright, and published on the App Store by Alex Chen, who appears as the seller there. Both are based in Taiwan. In these Terms, "we" and "us" mean Sichen Liu and Alex Chen. By downloading or using Snowlet, you agree to these Terms.
Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Standard EULA") also applies to your use of Snowlet. These Terms add to it. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled.
1. What Snowlet is
Snowlet turns daily mood logs into a growing snowflake. It also offers a small snow world with characters, gentle practices and related features.
Snowlet is not a medical service. It does not diagnose, treat or monitor any health condition. It does not replace professional care and is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line right away.
2. Who can use Snowlet
You must be at least 13 years old (14 in mainland China) to use Snowlet. If you are a minor under the law where you live, use Snowlet with the permission of a parent or guardian.
3. Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Snowlet on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Standard EULA and the App Store's usage rules.
4. Your journal and your snowflakes
- Your content belongs to you. We claim no ownership of your entries, notes or the snowflakes grown from them.
- Your journal is stored only on your device (see the Privacy Policy). We have no copy and cannot restore lost or deleted data. You are responsible for keeping backups, for example by using Settings → Your journal → Export backup.
- You may share images of your own snowflakes, for example by posting them online or printing them. The Snowlet name, characters, artwork and app design remain ours (see section 8).
5. Free and paid features
All journaling features are free: logging, editing, back-filling, your gallery and growth playback, backups, and the "One flake falls" practice. They are not limited by time or number of entries.
Optional paid features may unlock additional snow-world content, as described on the purchase screen at the time you buy. We only sell features that are available. Upcoming features are never sold as if they already exist.
5.1 Subscriptions and auto-renewal
Please read this section carefully.
- Before you buy, the purchase screen shows the subscription's price, billing period and what it includes. Payment is charged to your Apple account when you confirm the purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time: in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or in Snowlet under Settings → Snow world subscription → Manage subscription. Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused part of the trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- If the price changes, Apple will notify you as required by its rules. Where consent is required, the new price applies only after you agree.
- When a subscription ends, only the paid features stop. Your journal, snowflakes, saved poems and backups are never affected.
5.2 Purchases, restores and refunds
Purchases are sold and processed by Apple. We cannot see your payment details, and we cannot issue refunds or change billing ourselves. To use a purchase on another device, use Restore purchases. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies; you can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Nothing in these Terms limits any refund or cancellation rights you have under the law where you live.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- copy, modify, distribute, sell or rent Snowlet, except as the law expressly allows;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or try to extract its source code, except where the law expressly permits this;
- get around purchase checks or other technical protections;
- use Snowlet for any unlawful purpose.
7. Changes and availability
We may update Snowlet: we may add, change or remove features, and occasionally fix or retire content. If we discontinue a paid feature during a subscription period you have paid for, we will try to offer a reasonable alternative, and you may request a refund from Apple. Some builds include developer or test tools. These are provided as-is and may change at any time.
8. Intellectual property
Snowlet and everything in it are © Sichen Liu or the relevant licensors, and are protected by intellectual-property laws. This includes the app, its name, characters (such as the owl and the snowman), artwork, text, practices and design. Fonts are used under their respective licences. These Terms do not give you any rights to our trademarks or artwork beyond using the app.
9. Disclaimers
We work hard to make Snowlet reliable and kind. However, to the extent permitted by law, Snowlet is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will meet any particular need. This does not affect any rights you have under consumer-protection law that cannot be excluded.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data that you could have avoided by keeping a backup;
- our total liability to you for any claim relating to Snowlet is limited to the amount you paid for Snowlet in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Examples include liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory consumer law.
11. Ending these Terms
You may stop using Snowlet at any time by deleting the app. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription; cancel it as described in section 5.1. If you seriously breach these Terms, we may end your licence. Sections 4, 8, 9, 10 and 12 continue to apply afterwards.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live. You may also bring a claim in the courts of that country where those laws allow it.
If a problem comes up, please contact us first; most issues can be solved quickly. If a dispute cannot be resolved by negotiation, it may be submitted to a competent court in Taiwan, unless mandatory law gives you another forum.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms, for example when we add paid features or change prices or billing options. Each version is posted with a new "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will tell you in the app at least 14 days before they take effect; other changes take effect when posted. If you keep using Snowlet after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
